Welcome to a Fresh Start!

Fresh Start is a staunch supporter of the organic movement. We fully believe in the importance of good health, fair trade and environmental conservation.

Good health is hard to come by in a world riddled with new developments that include harmful, toxic chemicals. Lots of chemicals are used in the production of food and personal care products and, unknown to all consumers, these chemicals often contribute to the development of chronic diseases and conditions. Fresh Start understands how important it is for consumers to purchase food that is healthy and delicious.

Fair trade should be the modus operandi of all agricultural farms and businesses everywhere; however, this is often not the case. Small farmers often receive unjust compensation and are forced to go into debt or live simply. Fresh Start believes in equality and fairness and demonstrates this through our devotion to ensuring that farmers get their rightful due.

Environmental conservation has recently become an important issue, with more and more people realizing that we should take care of our world. We only have one world and it’s a world that we’re passing down onto the future generations. If we don’t take care of it, we’re going to lose the resources, beauty and variety that the world offers us today. Fresh Start supports this movement to take care of the environment, moving to protect the environment and the wildlife, by returning to the natural, chemical-free methods of farming. Fresh Start also wants to serve as an advocate for the importance of joining the movement to save the environment.

• Batavia Lettuce – Bearing similarities to iceberg lettuce, it's also known as summer crisp for its crunchy texture and moderately dense head.

• Lollo Rosa Lettuce – This variety is a mild tender lettuce with red ruffled edges.

5.) ORGANIC COFFEE

Coffee is one of the agricultural products that are in demand in our fast paced world. Although studies are still being done about its potential health benefits, some that have been discovered include: a decreased risk of Parkinson's disease, colon cancer, and gallstones, acting as a mood booster, helping with asthma and headaches and allowing you to be more alert. This is not to say that we should consume excessive amounts of coffee. As they say, good things should be taken in moderation and coffee is no different.

Fresh Start Organic Coffee Blends
Fresh Start coffee is made from coffee trees planted by various mountain communities in the remaining forested areas of Negros Occidental, including Sag-ang in La Castellana and Yubo in La Carlota. The production process follows NISARDS protocol for quality control, assuring you that it is grown naturally. Our varieties are certified organic by NICERT, with a production process traceable from coffee to cup. We grow our coffee trees organically, without using chemicals or pesticides. This ensures the growth of biodiversity and healthy soils. Because we promote "shade-grown" coffee trees (see box below), we are also supporting the increase of forest covers and protect our water shed areas.

6.) CERTIFIED ORGANIC FREE-RANGE CHICKEN AND EGGS

Free-range products are derived from conventional livestock that is allowed to roam freely in certain open areas for part of their day. The certified free-range chickens we breed at Fresh Start are raised without using antibiotics, growth hormones or GMO. Instead, they are raised on a diet of organic fruits and vegetables produced on our own farm.

Fresh Start offers Darag chickens. This type of chicken, when cooked, contains less fat, more protein, more potassium and more unsaturated fatty acid. According to a study by FNRI-DOST (Food and Nutrition Research Institute of the Department of Science and Technology), consumer-type panelists rated this meat, cooked as tinola, as something they "like very much" in terms of flavor and general acceptability.

Apart from the chickens themselves, their eggs are also higher in Omega-6, a fatty acid the human body needs for growth, development and brain functions.

7.) HEALTHY PANTRY

These additional offerings come from various local entrepreneurs and would be a great addition to any healthy pantry. Each local product is made using natural, organic, or healthier ingredients that are free from toxic food additives like artificial sweeteners, preservatives, colorings, flavorings and other chemicals used in conventional

Our Healthy pantry section is basically a healthier alternative to products usually found in Groceries and supermarkets.

Each local product or delicacy is checked and evaluated carefully by fresh start organics to ensure that it conforms with the company's standards and commitments.
