The LEON D’ORO hotel is a real jewel of comfort and style, rich in authentic history. It was built in 1860 on behalf of the Bishop of Padua, and it was used for the rest and the retirement of the Franciscan fathers. In 1980 the Venetian Forzutti family - interested in the historical building, which was abandoned at the time - put their own experience of "Venetian hospitality" to good use and started restorations.
Gianni Forzutti is in fact even today the owner of the San Giorgio restaurant in Venice, in Riva degli Schiavoni : in an enviable position on San Marco basin , opposite San Giorgio island, and well-known for the Venetian cooking, rich in fish specialities. Guests at the LEON D’ORO wishing to visit Venice may always have a table reserved at the San Giorgio restaurant, provided they previously ask for it.
