PINOT NERO VILLA RUBINI
D.O.C. COLLI ORIENTALI DEL FRIULI
The Pinot Nero is an old vine variety from Burgundy. It is not very common in our region because of its cultivation needs and the difficulty of the vinification process. It prefers hilly grounds not too much exposed to sunlight. Though it is an early-ripening variety, this Pinot Nero of Villa Rubini is harvested late, when overripe. A prolonged maceration on skins and the ageing in Allier barriques for at least 15 months result in a ruby-red wine, more or less intense in colour and with light and intriguing garnet red reflections, which become more visible with the ageing.
Its scent is delicate. Notes of red fruits blend with the vanilla flavour of the oak in which the wine is contained.
Its taste is warm. Red fruits, liquorice and vanilla blend and caress the palate and their aftertaste is very lingering.

SERVING SUGGESTIONS This wine goes well with mature cheeses, but in general with any meal, from meat starters or salami to first courses, and it goes particularly well with white meat and feathered game.
SERVING TEMPERATURE We recommend decanting this wine at least 30 minutes before it is served at a temperature of 18 – 20 °C (64 – 68 °F).
